So just how did we get involved?

Another Wine Blog was first featured in Snooth’s Witty Wine Blog recommendations: “What We’ve Been Reading” back in December, 2010. Since then, we have joined the folks at Snooth in countless virtual tastings, and Amy took a trip with them last summer to Lodi, California where she was impressed not only with the diversity of vines and wines of Lodi, The Wine Enthusiast’s 2015 Wine Region of the Year, but with the professionalism Mark Angelillo and Claudia Angelillo brought to the table in their new roles as Chief Executive Officer and Brand Director, respectively, of Snooth.

segura viudasIn fact, Amy was so impressed with the team, she accepted the invitation to join Snooth in their “Wine Writer Roundup Series.” Each month, Snooth selects a theme, and asks its contributors to choose a wine and provide a tasting note, or mini review.

In December, we contributed to Wines to Survive the Holiday Table Under $15, where Amy recommends Segura Viudas Gran Cuvée Reserva, a wine she enjoyed when she visited the winery last Spring on her trip to Barcelona, as guest of Ferrer Family Wines and the people of Freixenet.

A number of our wine writer friends participate in the Wine Writer Round-Ups, including

BlasonThis month’s theme is Detox Wines for a Healthy New Year. For a healthy lifestyle that does not eschew wine, we love to savor wines from the Languedoc. We have visited the Languedoc three times and have never been disappointed in the quality of their wines. They seem to get better and better every year. There are many quality wines from AOC Corbières: Amy chose the widely available Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) Blason d’Aussières.

We love Syrah, and the 2010 vintage is a blend of 40% Syrah 30% Mourvèdre 20% Grenache 10% Carignan. To see her tasting notes, read Snooth here.

We hope you will check out all the Snooth recommendations, as well as the blogs and sites of the other writers.

In other news, Another Wine Blog was recognized as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Wine Blogs of 2015 by the European Wine site Excel Wines, where Amy speaks to why we write about wine:

“Joe will tell you his favourite part is drinking the wine. But what I like best is meeting all the interesting people connected to the niche — not just those selling the wine, but the people tilling the soil, pruning the vines, harvesting the grapes, fermenting the juice and creating the final cuvee. The community of wine lovers, wine growers, and wine makers is tremendous, supportive, and is as beautiful and sustaining as the wine itself.”

Thanks to everyone who has read us since we started this little blog in December 2007. We look forward to this our 9th year publishing and to all the readers friends we have gathered along the way.
