Walla Walla WOW – L’Ecole No. 41 2008 Estate Luminesce

L’Ecole No. 41 takes its name from the historic Frenchtown schoolhouse that houses the winery. Every wine in their portfolio we tasted is good, and it’s no wonder they’ve been named Winery of the Year eight times by Wine & Spirits. If all Washington State wines taste like these, we can’t wait to get to Walla Walla.

Sonoma Coast Jewels: Freeman Vineyard & Winery

Part of my motivation to visit Freeman Vineyard & Winery was reading that co-owner and assistant winemaker learned about wine from her grandfather, a Japanese scholar. And that she shared the same first name as my study abroad hostess, Akiko.

Qué Syrah and Pinot Noir! Olson Ogden Wines

This beautiful small lot Syrah is opaque, an inky purple with gorgeous ripe fruit. Blueberries, blackberries and rich baking spices on the nose, reminded Joe of a succulent pie. Once in the mouth, we tasted more of the blackberry and blueberry flavors, brown sugar and cloves, with a nice toasty oak on a finish that ended in gobs of fruit, spice, vanilla and velvety tannins.

Kismet and the Most AMAZING Texas Wine

This wine is liquid nectar! Peaches, apricots, honey. You know the famous Meg Ryan scene in “When Harry Met Sally?” You just thought she was acting. My guess is they gave her a glass of something like this right before they shot that scene.

Wine Review: Chalone Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc

Rich and creamy with bright tropical and citrus notes, this is perfect for those who don’t like the average Sauvignon Blanc. Flavors of lemongrass and passion fruit, dancing with hints of lemon zest and grapefruit, this is a perfectly delightful wine to go with a fresh summer salad or flavorful Thai food.
