This is an interesting article about the move towards much more ecologically friendly methods of wine production.
While I haven’t yet tried any truly organic wines that I have liked, many of the more eco-friendly ones are excellent, and should be supported.
Last Fall I had the pleasure of touring the Benziger Family Winery and seeing firsthand their efforts at being more responsible stewards of their piece of the planet. Even though it delayed the achievement of my primary goal, hitting the tasting room, I am glad I took the tour. So many of the things they are doing are brilliant, while others are just common sense, that it is an eye-opening experience. Not to mention, the time spent working up a thirst going around their beautiful grounds in the California sun made their already delicious wine taste even better.
