I am a huge fan of the University of Toledo Rockets, and in honor of their win over the University of Michigan Wolverines I am going to drink something with a lot of bubbles! Congratulations to all Toledo fans, and my condolences to Michigan fans. Maybe your radio announcer should not have had so much fun calling us the ‘Mud Hens.”
My bubbles of choice this evening will be Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Blancs. This is a mid-priced sparkling wine, around $25, and is made with 100% Chardonnay grapes. I find that I like this wine better than some much pricier French Champagnes.
It has the classic apple, lemon, lime and pair flavors, along with plenty of nice tight bubbles. It also has the wonderful toast finish that I associate with good Champagne. Perfect for celebrating, this is a truly good wine for a great price.
After a win this big, I’m really glad that I have an extra bottle or two around. I just may need it! Go Rockets!

Ok, this may do us in! I live about 15 minutes from the Gloria Ferrer winery…and, being an avid Trojan fan, I totally appreciate ANY TIME Michigan gets beat! Really, Really…almost as much as UCLA, Notre Dame, & Ohio State. (can I still be your hero!)

As long as you don't celebrate when Toledo loses! Then again, this year, very few people could do that much celebrating.
