Okay, so it’s really two Top Five lists about Languedoc put together. Quit being so anal, it adds up!

It is truly a shame that Languedoc is not more well-known, so first up…

Top 5 reasons you may not know Languedoc:

1. Too much time spent on things that the consumer doesn’t care about such as appellation arguments.
2. No truly defining style.
3. Confusing labels (for the consumer)
4. Diversity provides overwhelming number of choices.
5. Past reputation as the great wine lake.

Not all of these are negatives, in fact some should be seen as positives, yet I believe that all 5 are contributing factors that keep the Languedoc region and its superb wines from being much more popular than they are.

While nothing can be done about the past, other than to keep doing what they are doing now…making high quality wine and striving to do even better, it is a shame that more people do not know about this amazing region. So, here are some of the things that you should know.

Top 5 reasons you why you should know Languedoc:

5. It’s been there for over 2,500, what are you waiting for?

There you have it, and that’s without even mentioning the food. That deserves another post of its own.

Whether you are looking for more bang for your buck when buying wine, or a spectacular place to visit, Languedoc should be on your radar. The wines and the region itself are about as diverse and beautiful as can be. Do yourself a favor and get acquainted with Languedoc.
