Brenner’s to host Napa v. Sonoma Wine Fest in Houston

Napa Valley or Sonoma County. Which California wine region produces better wines? Brenner’s Steakhouse on the Bayou in Houston hopes guests will “settle the dispute” at what is billed the Second Annual Wine Fest, scheduled for 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. next Saturday, April 9th on the lush landscaped grounds surrounding Brenner’s located off Memorial Drive just east of Memorial Park.

EVENT UPDATE: Brenner’s tells us the event is now SOLD OUT and there will be no tickets sold at the door. Watch our twitter feed for live coverage of the event.

Brenner's on the Bayou also hosted a Beer Festival in October of last year

Last year’s Wine Festival included both old and new world wines sampling those from Napa Valley as well as wines from France’s Alsace, Burgundy, Loire Valley, Rhone and Bordeaux regions. This year, guests can taste wines from the Sonoma wineries of Benziger Family Cellars, DeLoach Vineyards, Landmark Vineyards, Lyeth Estate and St. Francis Winery. Napa wineries pouring at the event will include Swanson Vineyards, Chappellet, Bouchaine, Sequoia Grove and Flora Springs. Complimentary food pairings will also be available for attendees.

Music at the event will be provided by the legendary Ezra Charles and the Works. Tickets are available before the event for $65, and $75 at the door. A limited number of VIP tickets can be purchased for $125 and will admit guests to a private tasting of Cakebread Cellars Benchland Select Cabernet Sauvignon and Dancing Bear Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon paired with Chef Steven Vanderpool’s “culinary creations.”

Brenner’s on the Bayou grounds feature bricked pathways through grass-covered hills and valleys running along Buffalo Bayou, so ladies are advised to leave those spiked heels and platform espadrilles at home. Comfortable shoes and resort casual attire are recommended.

Brenner’s Steakhouse on the Bayou is located at One Birdsall Street (see map), in the former Rainbow Lodge location (for you old-timers). Valet or self-parking is available. Rain date for the event is Saturday, April 18, 2011. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at
