We first tasted this wine when we visited with winemaker Amy Butler in 2012 on a visit to Paso Robles for Hospice du Rhone. We liked her wines so much we took home several bottles. Château Smith Haut Laffite Grand Cru Classé de Graves 2008

Deep red core with a lighter red rim in this luscious Bordeaux from Pessac-Léognan. Leathery cinnamon and cocoa on the nose. A mélange of succulent black fruit. Soft tannins create a silky smooth mouth feel.  Black cherry and mocha finish. Pair with a New York Strip Steak – cooked no more than medium rare. 13.5% ABV.
