A nonvintage blend of grapes from California and North Carolina, the Biltmore American Chardonnay Sur Lies is medium-bodied – a complex melange of fruit notes: pineapple, pears and Granny Smith apples, with a finish of toasty vanilla and oak. Pairs wonderfully with breast of chicken first boiled, then baked to crispy golden hue and placed in a chicken-based cream soup. Fabulously priced at under $12.
